About Us

The GERMAN SCHOOL UPSTATE, SOUTH CAROLINA began classes as "Die Deutsche Schule Spartanburg (DDSS)" on September 7, 1996. The Carolinas are proud of their successful and growing business and cultural relationship with German speaking countries. The GERMAN SCHOOL UPSTATE hopes to further strengthen this bond.

The GERMAN SCHOOL UPSTATE admits students regardless of their race, color, nationality and ethnicity. All students have the same rights and privileges to the programs and activities generally accorded and made available by the school.

The GERMAN SCHOOL UPSTATE is a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors who are volunteers. The Board of Directors appoints a Curriculum Coordinator who is responsible for ensuring that the policies of the board and the academic goals of the school are achieved in the classroom.

Note: The school relies on the participation of volunteers to operate at the most economical level possible and to keep tuition low. We hope that many parents, guardians and friends will help us enrich our program by occasionally volunteering their time to help with our programs.
